Is West Still the Best?

Over the last 20 years the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers have dominated the NBA. Throw in the occasional alternative winner and its evidentally clear that the league has been dominated by a select handful of teams.

Although the NBA Championship has been won by the above listed select teams, the Western Conference has dominated the league. In recent years, having a 50 a win season didn’t guarantee a team a playoff birth.

The question is…Is West still the best? Or has the East become the Beast? Leave your comments and let us know your thoughts!

I have to say the Eastern conference is the best this year. Boston is going to be scary once KP, and Shaq are healthy. My two cents is that Boston is going to take it this year!!

I think the West has far more depth than does the East. The East has 3 top tier teams — that being Boston, Miami, and Orlando, and 1 tier 2 team, that being Chicago.

The West has an abundance of top tier teams in the Lakers, Mavs, Spurs, and Suns; also an abundance of tier 2 teams in the Thunder, Clippers, and Portland.

I think the finals this year will definitely be Boston in the East (after they defeat the Heat), and I really think the West is up for grabs this year; I’d love to see the Lakers 3-peat, but they’ve been pretty inconsistant this year … so, the Mavs & Spurs will have a shot ….

Its a crap-shoot this year. So many quality teams who all look primed for a deep run in the playoffs. It’ll be a fun strecth drive, thats for sure!
