TheBowse’s All-Star Selections

The NBA is set to announce the 2011 All-Star starters for this year’s game. The starting lineups are based on fan voting. So in essence it is a popularity contest. Fans vote in their favourite player, not the most deserving.

We’ve seen it in the past where players get voted in and their play hasn’t warranted the selection. Allen Iverson last season got voted in as a Starter for the Eastern Conference.  He has had so much on the court and off the court trouble, yet he still got voted in.  This is a clear example of what should NOT be allowed and when the league should step in,

As this is the case, and as we look foward to this years game. I present to you TheBowse.com’s selections for All-Star starters and reserves based on play and not popularity.

Eastern Conference

Starters:
G – Derrick Rose
G – Dwayne Wade
F – Lebron James
F – Amare Stoudemire
C – Dwight Howard

Reserves:
F – Paul Pierce
F – Carlos Boozer

G – Raymond Felton
G – Ray Allen
C – Al Horford

Western ConferenceG – Manu Ginobli

C – Tyson Chandler

Starters:

Reserves:

Although these will closely resemble the final selections for the All-Star Game, its important to take notice that these are based on the seasons they are having and not their popularity.

Must be a Kobe basis, because statistically he’s having a better season than Chris Paul and Ginobli

We know that Rondo made it as a sub. I don’t see how they can leave any of Pierce, Ray, and KG off the team. They deserve it for their play and for the team’s record in spite of the injuries this season.
