Magic, Contenders or Pretenders?

Orlando magic made a change in a rather dramatic fashion. It was the mega deal between Phoenix and Orlando, along with a trade between Washington and Orlando that captured the basketball world’s attention. It involved moving Carter, Gortat, Pietrus to Phoenix for J-Rich, Turk and Clark followed by Lewis for Arenas. Given they needed time to gel together and work on their chemistry, Magic lost their first two and went onto a Franchise record tying 9 win streak. They seemed set to make a point in deep in the playoffs. Only for the novelty to wear off, with erratic consistency, high turnovers, injuries and unpredictable three point shooting. With 10 games remaining till playoffs, Magic currently sit in 4th with a 46-26 record and are 3 games behind Miami. Now as the 10 games come to a close, we can question Orlando’s ability to win the playoffs, even win the championships. Will Magic tie together a win streak now entering the playoffs, will they pull a Boston and lose now before exploding in the playoffs to play in the finals as they were originally in the 4th spot or will they get knocked out of the playoffs with everyone pondering what could’ve happened? I believe Orlando has the offensive firepower to absolutely destroy teams and the defensive skills to shut down teams (Especially with players from the bench – Q-Rich, Clark and Duhon) We have shown that we can beat top teams as we have this season won against Celtics, Bulls, Miami, Lakers, Dallas, Spurs, Oklahoma, New York and so on. But it is the consistency that will decide our chances in the playoffs! Stan Van Grumpy hasn’t been entirely happy with the way Orlando has played, the last time he was ‘kinda’ happy was when we beat Lakers before playoffs. I believe that Van Gundy’s attitude will help push Superman’s Magics deep into the playoffs. But we will have to wait and see…

Arenas has been a bust thus far…really expected more out of him from this trade

Everyone did…We only went for Arenas because we wanted to offload Lewis huge contract…on the bright side, Anderson and Bass are shining in Lewis’ absence
