Game 1 Review: Knicks vs Celtics

What an ending to quite the surprising game.  From the opening tip-off, the Knicks brought it to the Celtics.  The Celts looked to be overwhelmed by The Knicks Defense and to be honest Amare Stoudemire was unstoppable.

The Celtics came out flat and looked shell shocked as they clawed their way back to make this quite the competitive affair.  Luckily for Celtics faithful, Carmelo decided to have one of if not his worst game as a Knick with a 5-18 performance including 2-8 from downtown.  1 of those 8 missed 3’s was his last ditch effort three he took with time remaining.  Even Amare Stoudemire’s 28 & 11 couldn’t slow down the Celtics who caught up to the Knicks after being down by 12 at the half.

It looked as though the C’s took the Knicks for granted as they came out totally flat and were only rescued by the stellar inside presence of O’neal, and we are not talking about Shaq.  Jermaine O’neal went on a defensive rampage with 4 blocks as he helped KG down low defending the Celtics net.  The Knicks eventually conceded the lead late in the 4th quarter, only to get it back with moments to go in the game.

But in typical Celtics fashion, with the clock winding down the ball made its way into Ray Allen’s hands, and the All-Time NBA leader in 3 pointers made did just that…he made a game winning shot.

Carmelo Anthony came back with an attempt to win the game, but too little too late.

Of note from this game was Chauncey Billups injury he suffered to his leg late in the game which may keep him out of game 2 as well as Rajon Rondo’s near triple double which has gone under the radar.
