Game 2 Recap: Orlando vs Atlanta

Intensified heart and hustle leads Orlando to win Game 2, evening up the series. Rough and rugged plays made up for the fact that Orlando shot a measly 34.6% from the field. It is true that defense wins championships as Orlando made sure that Atlanta’s shooting dominance in Game 1 wouldn’t happen again.

The stats showed many areas of improvements from last game for Orlando.
- Magic clamped down the Hawks’ best perimeter scorers and limited Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford and Hinrich to just 18-of-44 shooting from the field. Although Crawford scored 25 points.

- Orlando grabbed 20 offensive rebounds and accumulated nine steals.

- Dwight Howard was dominant again with 33 points and 18 rebounds, but he played every single 48 minutes of the game!

The areas of concern are still Atlanta’s intimidating defense on the three pointer line, minimising Magic’s three pointers.

What Atlanta has shown this season and series thus far, are that they are not the same team that rolled over, dug a hole and hid there during the Round 2 playoff matchup last year. But they are tough, tenacious, all round team, who are looking for revenge upon the scars inflicted by Magic. They showed that Magic would have to keep playing with this intensity to win games or make much more three pointers to be more potent offensively.

Game 3 will be at Atlanta and I am almost certain that the fans will be wild, heavily going against Magic for what happened last year. It is uncharted territory for Orlando and that’s when we will see who the Orlando Magic team really is.

Personally I think the round between Atlanta and Orlando has been my favourite so far, not because I support one of these teams but because of the intensity, heart, drama and the defense displayed in this game and we can expect more!
