Game 2 Review: Celtics vs Knicks

What a game.  With Carmelo Anthony pouring 42 points and 17 rebounds, the Knicks hung in once again until the very end.  But as game 1 went, they came up short again and ended up losing 96-93.

The Knicks were extremely short-handed with Chauncey Billups our with his knee injury and Amare leaving because of back spasms.  This left Melo to fend for himself with Toney Douglas’s 14 points being the only other Knick player with over 10 points.

On The Celtics side, Rajon Rondo finally found his old self as he torched NY for 30 points while the other “Big 3″ each put up more than 10 points a piece.  This was the type of game we as fans have grown accustomed to from the Green machine come playoff time.  A real team effort that enabled them to shut down The Knicks enough to get the W.

Of particular impoirtance is the lack of support Boston had down lown.  Jermaine O’Neal appeared to be the answer after his game 1 performance, however his 2 points and Nenad’s Krstic’s goose egg has exposed a major hole in the Celtics armour once again.

New York on the other hand must re-group and now may deal with life in the Playoffs without Amare and Chauncey.  It doesn’t bode well for The Knicks and their faithful fans as there is no way they can compete with the Celtics without those two.

As the series swings to New York, look for the fans to become a factor in the game and New York possibly stealing 1 game from Boston.  From the looks of things, The Celts will have little trouble disposing of The Knicks in either 4 or 5 games.
