Round 2, Game 5 Recap: Oklahoma vs Memphis

After the extra long, intense, dramatic game 4 which included 3 overtimes. It was expected that whoever lost will be feeling deflated in Game 5. It did happen as Thunder blitzed the game, winning all four quarters and running away with a 99-72 point win!

Memphis center Marc Gasol mentioned that fatigue would play a factor in Game 5 and it did. The Grizzlies had nothing in the tank from the start and the Oklahoma City Thunder never took their feet off the gas blowing out Memphis 99-72. Thunder players and coaches said before the game they felt energized despite the long contest less than 44 hours before the tip-off of Game 5 and it showed. Both teams managed just 17 points in the first quarter but OKC took control after that. Kevin Durant scored a game high 19 points and spent the fourth quarter on the bench. Oklahoma City’s bench outscored the Memphis starters 53-45. Thunder 3-point specialist Daequan Cook was hot, going 6 out of 7 overall and 4 out of 5 from long range to finish with 18 points. Cook is proving to be a big time player in the playoffs along with Maynor! With the supporting cast stepping out. The other teams better look out! Gasol led Memphis with 15 points and Zach Randolph, who was frustrated at times, managed just 9 points. Memphis must win Friday night to force a Game 7 back in Oklahoma City. If not, the Thunder will be in Dallas Sunday to open the Western Conference finals against the Mavs.

IĀ feel that it will be a very scrappy game 6 with Memphis playing desperate in order to continue their amazing playoff runs. But Oklahoma won’t let it happen easily. Tune in as it will be a great and exciting affair!
