Chris Paul to Clippers could become a reality

The L.A. Clippers are now in the running to acquire Chris Paul via trade from the New Orleans Hornets. Reported from many news outlets, most notably USA Today, the Clippers are offering Chris Kaman, Eric Bledsoe, Al-Farouq Aminu and a 2012 draft pick acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves for Paul. If the trade is approved, the Clippers would be immediate contenders in the Pacific Division to begin the season. The Lakers are the team to beat in the division still, but the psychological loss of Paul who almost became a Laker last week, could be brutal for the Lakers.  If the NBA approves the trade, Paul would join Blake Griffin and young guard Eric Gordon to make undoubtedly a potent three-man offensive force.
The Clippers are in uncharted waters being so active in pursuing good players. They have never been a welcome location for NBA players to play and their owner, Donald Sterling has created a reputation for not using any money to improve the team, although the Clippers are one of the most profitable. It will be interesting to see how the Clippers front office handles themselves in the next week because their actions will dictate how deep the Clippers can advance in the playoffs. DeAndre Jordan, the backup center last season, now has signed an offer sheet with the Golden State Warriors. So much still remains to be seen and this week will prove crucial.
