2012 US basketball roster finalized

The US national team has been selected and now it is going to compete in the most difficult international tournament with very little time to prepare. Headlining the team are players like Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James and Kobe Bryant. Young thoroughbreds like Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and Russell Westbrook provide a tremendous supporting cast but make no mistake the rest of the world will be ready for the US squad. Spain will field a very competitive team as they lost to the US in the Beijing Gold medal game (2008). They field a massive front line of Pau and Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka with every other player very experienced in International FIBA basketball.
No doubt Russia will field a competitive team as well as Brazil. The US although it lost Chris Bosh and Dwight Howard due to injury will take Tyson Chandler, Griffin and Kevin Love on their front line. The key will be how the Americans gel as a team in the Olympic tournament. Each team has a wealth of international experience and this US roster has none as a unit. There is no subsitute for in-game preparation and experience therefore the team will have to ‘learn on the fly’ and capitalize on making pin-point adjustments. Along with Coach K will be Syracuse Men’s basketball Coach Jim Boeheim, Mike D’ Antoni and Nate McMillan. Each ego among the top athletes will be tested to sacrifice big minutes and shot opportunities for playing fundamental ‘team oriented’ basketball.
It will be fun to watch.
